Re: where to start?

If you want to drift, don't touch the engine, put all your money into suspension.

Re: where to start?

yea if u want to make it for drifting go nuts w/ suspension and get lsd either 1.5 way or 2 way. i wish i would have done suspension work before i touched the engine

Re: where to start?

and if you live in NY, your probably never gonna get your hands on an authentic 180sx, or any real S15 so just knock those off. You also mentioned if a 180 would be a good starter car, but i dont know if you understand we never got them here and you'll probably never see an authentic one.

Re: where to start?

definitely go deep into suspension + differential mods. Dont play with the engine until your skills improve to a better level. dont go all crazy and slap a turbo on right when you start or else

also if you plan to swap an sr make sure you dont get caught by the cops cuz it aint street legal.

heres a place i found in new york that does the swap http://www.heavythrottle.com/
hope that helps

Re: where to start?

yup, what others have said. Best bang for buck is if you go with MR coilovers and a welded diff (though welded diffs aren't fun for daily driving and are very unforgiving). Also make sure the rest of your stock suspension is in good shape. a couple months back when we went to install my coilovers, we discovered the left bracket for my front sway bar had broken off, yuck.

In the garage - MR Headers, outlet, z32 maf, z32 brakes, home made tails.
Near Future - 5 lug conversion w/ z32 brakes installed and decent lsd.
