2002 Lock Actuator
I have a 2002 Camry LE 4 cyl, 84K miles. For about a year, my driver's door lock actuator hasn't worked. I've had a dealer and an independent mechanic look at it. Both have said it's broken and is a sealed part, so needs to be replaced rather than repaired. A new one costs close to $300. The dealer won't put a used one in and the independent mechanic couldn't locate one.
There is almost never anyone in the left rear seat in my car. Does anyone know if the actuator in the driver's side rear door is the same as the driver's side front door? If so, can they be switched? Thanks. |

Re: 2002 Lock Actuator
It's doubful that the the actuator from the rear door would fit the front door. The doors are made slightly different. Consider having an aftermarket actuator put on. I've personally had to do that more than a few times on different types of cars. On average, the aftermarket motor only costs about 20 to 30 dollars, though labor costs may vary. However, I doubt that the total would reach anywhere near the 300 dollar mark. Check around at local car audio/security shops. They should be able to tell you if it's possible.

Re: 2002 Lock Actuator
Have you tried the local junk yard or any online toyota parts supplier?

I tried local junkyards, but nothing that fits. Do you know of any online Toyota parts merchants? The one's I've found quote the $300 price.

Re: 2002 Lock Actuator
Get the toyota part number and then do a google search for toyota parts. I've seen many referenced as cheap and good but I've not had to use one yet to recommend.
