prime the pump while assemeling, a dry oil pump may take some time to create pressure.

i mainly work with old datsuns. after a rebuild, i prime the oil pump by packing the rotors with light multi-purpose grease. creates pressure allmost instantainously and the grease becomes dilluted in the 20w-50 and dissappears. i don't know if i can reccomend using grease on a new car that uses lighter weight oil.

Coupla things:

1. Do you have the big Normal sized oil sending unit? or the very small dummy unit that our cars typically come with? See what comes stock is a dummy sender unit which doesn't actually work. It just gets a signal and sends it back to the guage saying you do (or if it's fauly don't have oil pressure. You can get a true oil pressure sending unit from any store pretty cheap they'll be much bigger (250% bigger) then the dummy unit.

2. Ask the guys on probetalk.com in the mechanical forum, if you live in VA, MD or D.C or hell you may just want to call him anyway, there a great (AND I DO MEAN GREAT) mechanic for probes whose name is Travis Williams. He specifically works on probes and mx-6's. I don't take my car to anyone else, people from new york drive down to have him work on there cars and he's cheap, I once saw him replace an front axel on the side of 95 to a guys car in 40 minutes in the middle of the night. He didn't even charge him. That's Travis. Call his shop, it's 301-829-1500. He'll take care of you. Tell him J.D. sent you. =)

p.s. I had the same problem on my car, he fixed it in 15 minutes. Even in your not in the area, he can trouble shoot it over the phone with you.

J.D.

Re: KLZE 1st Start up..no oil pressure!

you should try to start it without your plugs in, so there wont be any spark in the engine and so you can get some fuel in the engine and getting some oil moving, then put the plugs in and try it.

Re: Re: KLZE 1st Start up..no oil pressure!

alright so far...I have replaced the distributor i have also gotten a new rotor and cap, i have tried checking all of my fuses and i even finally changed the spark plugs...still nothing. when i had first put everything together it use to crank and catch for a few seconds and be very rough and misfire...now it will not catch at all and im not sure if im getting spark because i tried checking one of the wires by sticking a paper clip into the wire and to a grounded piece of metal and i did not see anything...yet my friend has the same car same year and everything and i tried the same thing on his car and i didnt see spark either....but his car runs fine! im fuqin stumped!!

Re: Re: Re: KLZE 1st Start up..no oil pressure!

...hahaha ....so.....i finally did the HEI ignition module mod...as far as i know it works.....but now the car will start and immediatly rev to about 3 or 3500 and shortly after shuts off.....and still i look the the oil pressure gauge and it does not show i have any when the car starts.........now when the car is on but the engine is off...the oil pressure gauge shows that it is functional and its somewhere in the middlle...and i went to the OIL sending unit and unplugged it and it went off...right after that i plugged it back in and it went back up...that tells me the electronics part of this works but why the F*$@ wood i not be gettin any oil pressure..what causes this......and if anyone has any answers or sudguestions dont hesitate!!
