Thunderbird Supercharger on a v6 98 stang?

Hey whats up guys, my brother has a 98 v6 mustang and told me that he has heard that people have putting thunderbird superchargers on their v6 mustangs because they are the same engine? Well his question was is this true? What all do you need to this? How much work is involved? Are there any links to help us out?

Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance!

Re: Thunderbird Supercharger on a v6 98 stang?

(this is just things you would need to check) you have the check compression ratio (most likely different) and the rods crank shaft is most likely the same the heads (this could cause the change in compression, or it could be done by the pistions (more likely) the funest way to do a swap like this would be to find a junker SC V6 and take a week off work and taer both apart and sawp it all over, but thwn you could just go to the net, save yourself some treouble and buy a supercharger kit easer and if it's from a good manufacturer will be a reliable part, and I'm sure many people could help you out with where to look

I was at the junkyard a few weeks back and saw a 2 SC thunderbirds just sitting around. One was wrecked but the motor was still intact and looked good.

Re: Thunderbird Supercharger on a v6 98 stang?

Well I did have a 350 in my cutlass but right now it has nothing. I'm rebuilding the 350 and putting it in my 85' cutlass and have a 1968 455 that I'm going to rebuild and put into my 69' cutlass.

Re: Thunderbird Supercharger on a v6 98 stang?

the sc off the thunderbird will fit. you need the valve covers off the bird also to switch the oil fill to the other side. the thunderbird has a lower compression then a mustang so if you can get a bigger pulley on the sc to lower the boost. other than that the engines are nearly identical.
