can I evolve already?!?!
my body is flipping out. I lived on my own for a long time before a financial dam forced me to move back in with my chainsmoking mother. A few weeks after the move, I got sick. Hardcore sick. I have about a half pound of congealed mucous in my upper resperatory tract, sinuses, and airways. It's hard to breathe at night unless I keep my air passages open (try falling asleep laying on your back with your head hanging off the bed). I'm just ready for my body to quit protesting and accept the crappy air.
Also, I play bass. one day, i got a blister that decided to fall off instead of hardening into a callous. Somehow, the space got infected and the skin was scarred. but it's not just any scare- the epidermis had been sheered away when the blister rotted off and the scar is actually the dermis tissue...so I have had a scar of hardened, scaly skin on my right hand index finger since November of last year that makes it so painful to play that I have been playing bass with only my middle finger. Yeah...I play for a church, too. no one has noticed me flipping off the congregation ever sunday for the past year yet. I've tried various wart and callous removers...but nothing has worked. I don't have the money to visit a dermatologist. Finally, I have to be up at 0900 hours tomorrow...it is currently 0302 hours. My body refuses to be tired. This makes me sad. (to everyone who doesn't get the topic title [which is probably everyone]. I have a long-running joke that I want to evolve into a being of pure energy and thought. that way I don't have to worry about mucous or callouses. Goodnight.)

Re: can I evolve already?!?!
I've been playing bass for six years and I know exactly what you're talking about. The index and middle finger tips on my right hand are scarred. That's why the plates on my green truck say scarred.
The pain goes away. Just play it off.

Re: can I evolve already?!?!
I bought these bass string for my brother that were flat, not ribbed, of course they were small sections maybe half an in wide, but they actually were comfotable. He never put them on his bass cuz he sold it, but i did get to feel them when i bought them.

Re: can I evolve already?!?!
I tried those flatwounds once on a high end Warlock bass I had years ago. The sound was too deep for my liking, but I could have probably gotten used to it.
I found they did more hurt to my fingers than roundwounds did, just because they'd get sweaty and slippery. When I'd try to play anything, my fingers would just end up tagging the pickups and chewing the shit out of my fingers anyway. I only ever used one set, and I didn't have them on long. You couldn't even begin to slap the stupid things.

Re: can I evolve already?!?!
I had a set of GMS nylon-wound strings. they were smooth on the fingers but they were not very bright or poppy because of the extra weight and acoustic properties (lack thereof) of non-taut nylon.
