Quite by chance. . . I passed a pristine (I mean an 11+ on the 10 scale!) 1992 Olds Ninety Eight R-Elite in the front yard of a 100-year-old College Street home in rural North Carolina. Mileage = 96K. Garaged. Pampered. Church bulletin on the backseat. All d'ship oil changes in the glove box - - - you get the idea. Presently I have and absolutely adore (I mean we're talking a Jimmy Buffett LOVE-fest!!) my 1996 Olds R-Elite with all the bells and whistles and I wasn't prepared to make any life changes . . but, this is one-in-a-million! We're talking >7K a year son! Question is . . . do I "turn loose" of my pride and joy and regress 4 years (BTW, is it the same mill?) or stay the course? Dealership advises the '96 engine is the best GM ever produced. Need some guidance - - not hariKrishna . . . Oh yea - - - $3500 firm.

Re: 1992 vs. 1996 Olds 98 R-Elite
Quite a few differences, notably the engine which is a series II in the 96, series I in the 92. There is also a huge change in dash design, with a air bag added for the passenger in the 96 along with a much simpler overall dash layout.
