Gas Guage "Ding" sound.

Hello everyone. I have a 1996 Grand Caravan. The low on gas indicator "Dins" as the needs starts to go down and right after the "ding sound stops it goes back up. Anyone know what the problem could be?

You didn't say if this event starts when the gas gauge drops naturally due to low fuel, or if it is a continuous recycling.
If no other gauges are affected (same symptoms) the Fuel Sensor unit chassis ground connection is suspect.

My 1999 Town and Country does the same thing. The only time, however, is when the tank is about 1/2 tank and especially when the tank is full. Sitting at an idle, it will stop (after a while), but shaking the van from side to side will start it again. Once below 1/2 tank, it stops. Appreicate the tip on the Fuel Sensor Unit Ground....Where is that located?

Re: Gas Guage "Ding" sound.

this happens to me everytime i overfill my tank (an extra dollar or two). the low gas light will come on, it will make a ding sound and the gas guage will start falling. usually stops doing it at about 3/4 tank

Bad Fuel Gauge Sender

The problem is with the fuel gauge sender. This is part of the fuel pump assembly in the gas tank. Parts alone cost about $200. I just live with it until it stops working when the fuel is low, then I'll replace it.
