Question 01 Chevy Tahoe Illumination Bulbs

I Have A Problem With Illumination On My Gm Products. Both Vehicles, An 02 Pontiac Bonneville And An 01 Tahoe Have Illumination Failure (bulbs Burnt Out) In The Climate Controls. Is There Anyone Out There That Has Had A Similar Problem? With A New Vehicle And No Place To Replace Bulbs, I Think Gm Did A Poor Job At Choosing The Manufacturer Of These Controls As The Illumination Failed. The Cost Of The Bulb Is Less Than A Dollar But Cant Be Replaced, You Have To Buy The Whole Control At $200+. Any Solutions?

Re: 01 Chevy Tahoe Illumination Bulbs

I friend of mine had the same problem with the HVAC control on his 98 Park Ave. The fix is easy, remove the HVAC control and replace the lamps with Radio Shack Micro lamp PN 7219. The light bulbs in the park ave had a Blue rubber cover on them, use a razor blade to cut them off and reuse. All of the lights where burnt on the HVAC now it works great and has been okay for 2 months. You will need a small wattage Iron and a solider sucker to remove the old bulbs.
Good luck
Tim
