Frostbite

So, last night the guys in the dorm decided to do something which is a long existing tradition, the Snowbird Classic. Basically, we either go naked or wearing underwear and run (in the snow) around the closest classrom building and back, no shoes. I did it becuase it's tradition, my roomate talked me into it although I wasn't all that crazy about the idea. So, the leaders forgot that it was 2 below and we did it, and now I have frostbitten toes and am going to go to my doctor's office. In previous years, they did it when it was at least 15 or 20 degrees, and nobody ever got frostbite until this year. I know I brought it upon myself, so I'm not really mad at them, but my feet freakin kill... If anything I only have 2nd degree frostbite, so I dont have to worry about losing toes or anything. I really need to stop letting my roommate talk me into crap...

frostbite sucks i hope you're going to be ok! i've managed to get myself permanent nerve damage in my fingers, mainly the tips cuz of frostbite. i spent sooo much time outside in the winter regardless of the weather skiing. i can't hold onto cold things, like a can of soda cuz it burns so much and in the winter my fingers don't retain heat at all. i'm never going to stop skiing tho!

Since you were naked be thankful it's only your toes. It could have been much worse...

Re: Frostbite

This thread made me laugh. Sorry to hear about the frostbite though. How long ago did it happen? Hopefully you won't loose any toes.

Well, got back from the doctor. I either have first degree frostbite or the stage right before frostbite. He basically told me to be careful and try to stay off my feet for the weekend. That means I don't have to work tonight or tomorrow, which I'm happy about. Looking back, I'm glad I did it becuase now I can say I've run nearly naked through snow in sub-zero weather. Should make a good conversation starter....

Re: Frostbite

so, how much did the doctor charge you to tell you that your feet are really really cold?

Amazingly, he didn't charge me anything. He's a friend of the family from when we used to live down here, so he doesn't always charge us for small stuff like this. Works out pretty well...
