If you are having to top up your coolant on a regular basis, then you have a coolant leak. In my case I bought a new 2000 Venture that began to need coolant top ups after the fourth year. There were no obvious leaks. After checking this website I found out that the intake manifold gasket was the most likely cause of fluid loss. I also found out that there is a "secret" warranty of up to 5 years or 100,000 kilometers. Actually the warranty isn't a secret, it is just that GM isn't sending out letters to all Venture owners saying there may be a problem. I took it to the dealer & they did a coolant system pressure test which did not show any leak. They then did a dye test to determine where the coolant leak was. It turned out to be the Intake Manifold Gasket was leaking. They did the repair under warranty & I only had to pay for the valve cover gasket (not covered under warranty) & thermostat (recommended to be changed at the same time was also not covered) for a total of $80.57.
