zc civic into dx crx help
whats up everyone i am new here but i have seen and read alot of posts that have helped me alot. so this is what i need to know i have a zc 88 civic with the full swap done to it. the thing is it got into an accident and the car cannot be driven so i want to put it in my stock dx crx 89 that is in desperate need of some or any extra hp. so if you could tell me what i need to do to complete the swap it would help me alot. i need to know things like what wires need to be cut or can i just take the full harness off the civic and put it into the crx and just plug it into the zc ecu. i really want to do this so please help me. thanks

Re: zc civic into dx crx help
So the ZC is in the Civic right? Then the Civic was already converted to mpfi for the swap (regardless if it was a dx or si). So what you need to do is take the harness from the 88 and put it in the 89. If you knew more about the actual mpfi conversion you may just take those wires and redo the conversion to the 89 but pulling the whole harness might be easier. What the others were saying is if the 89 is an HF then it already has mpfi and will make your life easier.
The ZC engine will bolt right up though and you can use the 89 CRX DX tranny. If it's an HF CRX however you will probably want to go with the 88 Civic tranny/axles/hubs/etc. Also, if it's an HF CRX you will want to use the ZC intake manifold because it is bigger and will flow better than the tiny HF mpfi intake manifold. So... 89 CRX HF - mpfi already, long geared tranny and puny hubs/axles 89 CRX DX -dpfi needs to be converted to mpfi, long geared tranny but respectable sized hubs/axles Use ZC engine, ZC tranny if you have it (equal length axles? with intermediate shaft), ECU, distributor, Intake Manifold, Header, etc.

Re: Re: zc civic into dx crx help
alright guys i think in pretty much got the idea of what im gonna do. so thanks to civickiller and turtlecrxsi i will be able to do this now. but first i am gonna get the engine compression tested first. so thanks again guys. and one more question. would the zc or the dx crx tranny be beter in my crx the gears are really long. and in my friends old integra the gears were short so what would be better without mating them together.

Re: zc civic into dx crx help
the zc tranny would be better. dont forget to replace the timing belt and water pump, and if you want the front main seal since youll have the motor off. can change the rear one too but youll have to take the trans off the motor
