s12 ca18et question
Hey there, I have an 87 s12 with the ca18et. I just bought it, and thought the alternator was dead, but when I went to remove it, I noticed there was a wire just flopping around. The wire comes out of the loom with all the alternator wires, and has no clip. It is yellow.
So what I am asking is: Where does the yellow wire coming out of the alternator loom go??? The wire is coveres in black plastic/rubber, so it might appear black. Thanks |

Re: s12 ca18et question
get a wiring diagram for your car.
chilton's manuals should have the correct diagram in the back.

Re: s12 ca18et question
Why did you think the alternator was dead? Is it because the dash light came on? If so, that wire is probably the wire for the light, when the wire stops getting power, it thinks the alternator is dead.

Re: s12 ca18et question
unless it was the power wire to the regulator or something...

Well, I tried the chilton online manual, and it had crap for wiring diagrams. Anyways, I determined the wire does not go to the alternator. The problem is a fault somewhere along the sense wire so I am following it to determine where the fault is.
