My 95 Z71 with manual trans is pretty messed up.

My 95 Z71 with manual trans is pretty messed up. I shift into first to start out and the truck wont go to redline barley wants to go to 3 grand. I shift to second and it barley wants to go over three grand, gear after gear. Literally I could sit in 1st gear with it floored and the truck will sit at 3 grand like thats the redline. Its really iratating and i have no clue what this could be. Huge power loss here. Its like its governed at 3000 or 3500 rpm. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

It does move and drive fine under 2000 rpm, not rev limiter. No check engine light. Has sputtered a little bit.going up hills and such.

How many miles?? If its well over 100k you could have a clogged cat. converter, or a rotted out muffler. Either exhaust restriction will cause what your describing. A good mufler shop can do a pressure test on the cat and the muffler and figure out which is the issue. also, whens the last time the fuel filter was changed? Try changing that too. Its cheap insurance.

the exhaust and cats are about a year old. But the fuel filter could be it, what a good place to buy one and how much.

Re: My 95 Z71 with manual trans is pretty messed up.

NAPA filters are made by WIX which are really good. I'd say about $12 for their gold series (wix) filter.
