Pontiac Grand Prix GT performance.
I was looking to upgrade soon as far as size and performance go. I was looking at the specs of a n/a 3800 series, around 200 or so hp and equal torque. I figured although it weighed a bit, it'd still have reasonable performance numbers especially compared to my 1.6l civic, but searching for 0-60 times I found out that an 'auto gtp' runs 0-60 in 8.4 seconds? I mean, that's the supercharged one, right? That sounds slow, and taking into consideration I'm looking into an n/a one, I'd assume it's be just as slow as my little Honda.
I really didn't want to bug you guys so I spent nearly an hour searching for performance specs and couldn't find anything. I didn't come here to insult your cars by any means because I bet the numbers I got were wrong, I just want to get the facts straight since I have a chevy-buick and a pontiac dealer right next to each other that sells these cars for pretty cheap and I'm looking for a new car soon. So, how about 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for the Grand Prix GT. I guess between '99 and '03.

Re: Pontiac Grand Prix GT performance.
1/4 mile times are from high 15's to low 16's for the gt, and from high 14's to low 15's for the gtp. not sure on the 0-60- will get back to you. is your civic a vtec?

No, I have a very slow, sohc on vtec civic, but the numbers I was hearing for the GTP made me think that the GT wouldn't be much faster than my stupid little car. To make a long story short, I'm not a stupid street racer or anything, just need some more power. You can learn a lot about it's powerband from those two times and it wasn't like I was going to ask how long it takes to get from 20-75 at 3/4 throttle.(:P) There is a place locally that caters to led foots and ricers I can go that's closed off if I ever get the urge to, but I don't plan to. I'm sure I might just go down to the local muffler show and get a nice exhaust and I could install and intake on my own, but it'd be for tinkering sake, I don't plan on racing it or anything, that's why I don't want the GTP. |
