Hey I have a 2000 Tahoe New body style 5.3 ltr. and it sounds like the tranny is whining when given gas under a load. pulling small hill or accelerating gradual. Any clues? is this bad or OK? Its not real loud, I just noticed it when the radio was off the other day. Might be time for new Trans Fluid HU? Any others ever had this? Thanks..

Mine is an 01 and it whines when it is cold. The noise goes away when she warms up. |

noisy oil pump a possibility or it may be cavitating due to low fluid level or blocked filter. Check your fluid would be a good start and maybe change filter and flush and add in a can of conditioner.

Re: 2000 Tahoe sounds like the tranny is whining
Just took my 2000 ZR2 blazer in for that same reason, turns out I'm getting a new transmission due to the fact that the transmission pump went out. Sounded like a jet turbine whine from the transmission. Glad I took her in, my warranty expires in 800 miles !!! (and they found a leaky power steering pump)
