Door hinges

Ok I am begining to think tha my girlfriend's car is cursed, yesterday some mud from a tractor hit her windshield and she could not see, so she pulled over on the side of the road and that when the wind from a semi blew her door open so far that it won t close properly now, there is a huge gap between the window and the car. i want to know if there is any way to adjust the hinges by movign the screws around or something, or am i just goint o havce to buy new door hinges and just replace the ones that appear to be bent?

Does the door actually close to the body properly if the window is down? It could just be the window, it does not take much to get them out of line.

Re: Door hinges

well the door does actually close, but the problem is that the front of the door hits the body when you open the door and close it, so i am at a loss on what to do i know thta it must have moved some

Then the hinge(s) definitely bent. I don't think that you could get enough movement to cause it to hit the body othewise. Provided you do a real good job of marking the position of the old one on the door post and on the door before you remove it, they are not hard to reinstall or adjust.

Next time start a new thread...Do the key dance to read the code/s. To read the codes:

1. Cycle the ignition key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within 5 seconds. To cycle the ignition key ON means to turn it only as far as it takes to get the radio to come on. It does not mean to turn the engine on.

2. Count the number of times the "check engine" lamp on the instrument panel flashes on and off. The number of flashes represents the code. There is a slight pause between the flashes representing the first and second digits of the code. Longer pauses separate individual codes. For example, flash-flash-flash [pause] flash-flash represents the code 32.

A code of "55" represents end of error codes. If this is all you get then no error codes are stored in the computer. This is the normal condition for a neon.

Post back any findings in a new thread.

Re: Door hinges

chances are you probably bent the hell out of the hinge mounts on the door also.Check that before you just go throwing parts at it.
