Squeel when brake pedal pushed in.

Any ideas on what problem is, when I am sitting still and press a little harder than holding still at a stop light, on the brake pedal there is this horrible squeeling sound, sounds like coming from the pedal itself??? really high pitch

Re: Squeel when brake pedal pushed in.

Brakes are made to squeal when they are getting thin. Check what wheels the squeal is coming from.

Time for a brake job.

Just to be clear, Does this squeal happen when the van is moving or at a standstill, or both??

Re: Squeel when brake pedal pushed in.

Since the wheels arent moving it would point to a possible small vacuum leak possibbly at the brake booster. Make sure all the lines are on tight. If your not confortable with that, I would take it in to a reputable shop. But thats my guess. Hard to tell without hearing the squeal. Hope that helps some.
