98 Accord Rebuild

I'm looking up prices to rebuild my 98 accord engine.
Which block would fit my car, because I am planning on rebuilding it from the ground up. I know a h22a and h23a would fit. But I am looking for performance. So, which would any of you suggest, and where could I go about purchasing these blocks. I am mainly looking up pricing right now. I don't need fuel rails, injectors, manifolds, pistons, etc. on them because I am planning on doing this completely custom. Also, would you all suggest vtec or non vtec? However thats a matter of figuring out a long time from now since all that really matters for that is the head. All I am sure about right now is that I want it to be a dohc engine that can handle what I am planning on putting into it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

deaz, you've been around here for a while, so you know the ropes.

Why didn't you do a search first? There's a zillion threads on this subject. Or did you just figure others would do your work for you, and pull everything you want to know into one place?

Re: 98 Accord Rebuild

Well, I figured I would ask because I know the h22 and h23 are direct swaps for the accord, however, I wasn't sure if that was mainly because of the connections or merely the motor mounts. I wanted to know if any other blocks would be able to fit into the bay of an accord. And as far as the pricing goes, I only found websites on here that sell the usdm h22 engine, or the jdm version. But not brand new blocks that were just blocks. I guess I'll do another search but change my search query this time and see if I can come up with anything different.

Sorry if it seemed like I wanted others to do the work for me, but I spent about 2 hours yesterday before I fell asleep going through about 30-40 websites on google looking for brand new engine blocks. I'm thinking of just going to the damn dealership and ordering the block directly from them, lol. Anyway, again, like I said, sorry.

Seasoned (used) blocks are preferred by builders, the casting having proven itself under stress, and isn't going to undergo any more thermal/stress changes.

It is now a very stable casting, not prone to stress cracks or voids in the metal that don't show themselves in a new block until they've been run for some time...
