'01 F250 7.3L 4x4 Crew - $4000
This ? is for Diesel Mechanics w/ flood experience! I got a '01 F250 XLT SWB HD Powerstroke w/ 101k that has been layed over on the driver side and submerged in 3 ft of water (about to the CD player). Roughly 5 hours, Besides maybe a bent front axel and body damage along that side the truck looks great. Now here it is... It ran on its side in the water for about 10 min. or so till it killed itself. I was told there was water coming from the exaust as well. Truck will not try to start or turn over as I was told with new batteries swapped into it. Could the engine still be lubricated on its side, or is that probably the reason it quit. What damage could be done to the engine/parts turbo electronics etc.? Is any of it salvagable? Is an enging swap possible with the existing electronics or are they fried as well. I was told all the computer/electronics are located on the driver side. If truck is a loss, are the engine parts, tranny, rear end etc. still good, if fluids are changed? Truck was drove off a river bridge and air bags didnt even deploy. Nice truck with 6in lift, wheels w/35's, stainless nerf-bars, leather. I have the chance to purchase for under $6000. Im thinkin I could either fix the truck if possible and drive as is or part it out for a profit. Would it be worth it? Dont they rebuild flood damaged vehicles,
what is that process/ estimate cost?
Are there any test that can be done?
Any info appreciated, even goin prices for salvagable used parts, the whole passenger side is good.
Thanks, Justin
