my new subaru doesn't crank well, and car jerks a bit.
bought it on the 1st Nov, and so far had only 1600km on it.
it's been running fine, except ... sometime when you let off the throttle, the car will jerk forward and backward, but it only happened twice a day, so I hope it's due to the car is still in break-in period. but a week ago, the car started to exhibiting a symptom that it's very hard too get cranked, not very often, but only twice a week. turned the ignition key, and the starter is like normal "wa, wa ,wa wa..." but the engine won't turn, or coughed, and sputtered a bit ,then stalled.... usually it takes 2~3 attempts to turn the engine to coughing, and it will automatically started well after coughing for 2 seconds. it doesn't happen very often but it's annoying. consulted some failure analysist and his wife's car had the same sympton, that occasional not turn-on, and the frequence is low as twice per week. and he finally replaced the crankshaft position sensor, and he mentioned that the old one has nothing wrong, and it mayeven due to some incorrect harness connect, so he suggested me to replug the CPS. and also tell me to analysis the cam position sensor too. anyho, I'll give this car to the dealer tomorrow, just wondering anyone of you had the same problem or what's your suggestion? this is a brand new subaru impreza 2006 2.5i wagon, manual tranny. I can tell the gas pumper is working perfectly, you can hear the hissing sound when turn key to on position. and for the igonition part, it looks very fine since it's a brand new car.... |

The dealer should take care of it, not sure about the crank position sensor, it could be any one of a number of things.
