Caprice in demo derby: need wiring diagram for fuel pump

Hi all,

So, we're putting a 1990 Caprice in a demo derby. We've stripped everything out of the car and moved the fuel tank (which is huge) to the back seat. The car was starting fine, but now it looks like the fuel pump isn't working. On closer inspection, the black wire coming from the fuel pump is cut. Is this the ground for the fuel pump?

There are three wires coming off the fuel pump: black with a white stripe, red, and brown. I assume it's ground, power, and fuel guage, but we're not sure. Can anyone send me a wiring diagram?

Also, we'd like to cut away a lot of the extraneous wires, and just connect the fuel pump to the wires coming from just beside the driver's seat: another reason a wiring diagram would be useful.

Thanks!

KEN

I thought you had to run a carb and a mechanical fuel pump in most demos. You might want to check the rules. That's at least the way it was where i was from.

Yeah, I hear what you are saying. I checked with the fire marshall. The fuel pump is built into the tank, which is in the back. We're allowed to put the pump there as long as the whole thing is covered with a fire wall, which is what we're doing.

I do understand where you are coming from. The Caprice was a really fine car, and she won second place in the demo. I dunno, everything dies, and I think it was cool for her to go out with a bang. But yeah, not everyone is into destroying old cars.
