what are the biggest tires you can put on the rear of a caprice?
Just wondering how big a tire I can put on my 1987 caprice (stock car no mods) with a 15x8 rim?
I'm thinking about going with 275/60/15's if they'll fit and like 245/60/15's on the front with a 15x7 rim. Think it'll work? I would really appreciate some feed back don't want to spend the money and not have them work |

Yup it will work. That's exactly what I have on my car. I think a 255/60/15 would give a better look up front though....

Re: what are the biggest tires you can put on the rear of a caprice?
I've got 275s in rear and 225s in front. It's maybe too sloped, 245s and 275s or 225s and 255s shlould look better.

Alright... 255/60/15's should work for front and rear right? I think I might go with these or 245/60/15's all the way around.

Re: what are the biggest tires you can put on the rear of a caprice?
I used to run 255/60/15s on my car all around. Using the stock rims, they fit just fine although a 255 is on the upper end of what will fit a 7" wheel. They looked good too, had so much grip that I wore them out after about 15-20k miles.

I'm running 255/60 15's n 15x8 vette rallys all the way around... No clearance problems with the car at stock ride height that I can tell, The car corners beautifully and they fit the wells perfect. aside from the looks and handling Two bonuses that I have found: 1) Since they are all the same you can still rotate them, and 2) The tire height is close to stock diameter which keeps the roll out close therefore no speedometer calabration is needed.

Re: what are the biggest tires you can put on the rear of a caprice?
I just got my new wheels put on. They're Dayton S/R P255/60/R15's on 15x7 ARE rims (late 80's GNX style) and they fit beautifully. However, I think I need to drop my car an inch or so to make them look right. As far feel goes, I immediatly noticed that the car handled MUCH better and it stiffened the ride up some. It also won't squeal at all when I floor it (damn 305)...
