Re: replacing the cat

OK The dyno is the best test Musashi3000GT
Good info
I may have to quit picking on them fellows about there test tube.
But I wish they had gone one step farther and tested it with a new cat and or with the rest of the exhaust off.
Removing the cat showed 3 more HP but on a about 5 year old car the old cat could have been stopped up some.
A good or high flow cat should not rob any horses or hold much backpressure.
To relieve excessive back pressure and let the horses out.
The rest of the exhaust system should be looked at and gone over.
Y pipes and undersized tail pipes or exhaust and mufflers can rob horses.
Like they say let it flow.

Re: replacing the cat

yea I know that high flow cats are expensive, but I mean, you never know when you'll pull up to that brand spankin' new z06 corvette, and you'll need every last peice of HP your car can get in 2 seconds... (at this point I turn up my EBC from 5 PSI to HOLY FUCK PSI)

i replaced my cat with a glass pack. it sounds pretty good. i took both stock resonators off and have a straight through muffler. it didnt make much of a difference in the sound when i first put it on but i guess after i drove it for a while and the glass pack got broke in it got louder cuz i can tell it is a lot louder now than it used to be. just to give you an idea of how loud it is i always set off car alarms in parking lots. it doesnt sound bad though it sounds pretty good. thats what i think and that it what everyone else tells me too.

LOL Mine doesnt sound horrible but a DOHC will without resonators. His glasspacks are acting as resonators. Thats why hes not getting the pissed-off-bumble bee sound.
