91 explorer performance mods

hey i just bought a 91 ford explorer eddie bauer edition. i plan on setting it up for 4x4, but first id like to upgrade some performace. As it sits, its running 155 hp through a 4.0L V-6. I already bought some cheap stuff, but I'm not the greatest with cars so I'm asking for some advice on possible upgrades. Yesterday I bought a K&N Performance Air Filter and a cheap performance chip. Anyone have any other ideas? I was thinking possibly disabling the governor, if anyone knows anything about that (suggestions/instructions) id really appreciate it. thanks.
