Looking for Used Diesel Golf or GTI

i'm looking for a Diesel Golf or GTI maybe Jetta

Something under $10K and not too high mileage

If anyone have one for sale, email me @ [email protected]

Also, i'm looking moving to CA and looking for a very good Gas mileage car, any other option beisde Diesel Golf???

Is "Gas" Golf mileage suck?

My 1.8t golf gets around 27-28 in city driving (5 speed). It's not 40-45 that the 5 speed TDIs get, but it's pretty good for being that much faster (And yes I know about making TDIs fast...I had one of those too.) There are several 1.8t golfs for sale on vwvortex right now. If you're a DIYer, you might also look at an older golf or jetta with the 1.8l 8v or 16v engine; those supposedly get pretty good mileage as well (low 30s)

If you're not looking specifically for a VW, you can pick up a Toyota Corolla with the 1.8; those are supposed to get you into the high 30s.

Re: Looking for Used Diesel Golf or GTI

It's still new and breaking in (1400 miles), but my 2.0L GL with automatic is currently getting about 24mpg combined. Granted, the majority of my driving is city, but it still isn't that great yet.

I was surprised how much the automatic tranny sapped the MPG of the TDI. I wonder how that new DSG tranny they have in Europe now does, with both the gas and TDI.
