P0172 System too rich (bank 1)
I have this code on my 2000 v6 tacoma. I have changed the fule filter but code came back. My question is what is most likely to cause this and what side of the engine is bank 1?

This code is related to the o2 sensor. There is usally another number which will tell you which sensor it is. Bank 1 (1) or (2). Sensor 1 is before the CAT and 2 is after the CAT. I ran in to the same issues on my 4Runner. You have to also check to see if it is you are running California emmissions, the sensors are different. Good luck.... It can be a pain in the butt. |

I had a P0171 (system too lean), which wound up being my mass air flow sensor. It's not that hard to check if you have a multimeter. Worth a shot.

Try looking on here for directions on cleaning the MAF w/ cleaner. It may be dirty and tripping the computer . |

I used electronic cleaner to fix this problem on the Mass airflow filter. It seems to have worked and was a suggestion from a friends uncle who happens to be a certified Toytoa specializist.
Just spray the part and clean the bulb which gets with the electric spray from advanced. Enjoy |

BGVAMP, It sounds like you tried to change the upstream o2 sensor yourself. Any pieces of advice? |
