They are fabulous but go for the GT it's a better buy! Oh and if you like a manual transmission this thing is unbelievably fast. We have an 04 the only bad thing I can say about it is that it's sluggish to steer at slow speeds probably because it's so heavy but the GT doesn't suffer this problem, especially the 05. The autostick is pretty good too. but for resale value avoid the touring edition. Limited and above are gonna be your best bet there. Oh and wait till september for the really good deals.

Thumbs up Re: thinking about buying a 2005 Pt touring

I've got an '02 PT Touring 5spd a/70k miles now. I love my PT and I would highly recommend one. If you get the N/A (non-turbo) get a 5spd. The auto sucks too much power according to most people. There's two different turbos; low-pressure model (common on the touring) only has 180hp. The high-pressure turbo (in the GT version) is good for about 220hp.
Either my car's getting an aftermarket turbo (HAHN makes a very good one) this summer, or I'm getting a new '05 GT model.......
I also have the Eibach Pro-Kit suspension, and intake/exhaust mods and wider wheels & tires; all of which I'm very happy with.
Beware: the factory brake pads make a LOT of dust. Be ready to replace them right away with low-dust composite pads (I use EBC Green pads, and they're GREAT!) if you don't want to ruin a set of wheels.
Good Luck-WIN

PS- I avg 25mpg; AND I just leafed through a Consumer Reports used-car guide and the PT faired very well (recommended buy) in all their ratings.

Re: thinking about buying a 2005 Pt touring

Rely on win-daddy, I bought a signature gt and was beaten pretty bad by a older standard. The auto still burns after flooring it at 20 miles per hour, but now I wish I bought a 06 wit a standard. Oh well, not everyones loaded wit cash. Also the sterring is sluggish and once I read through this forum I hope to remmody that. Wayne
