Dodge Grand Caravan 96 (Transmission)

I have this vehicle at 165,000 km.
It is a 3.8V with the transmission already done at 65,000 km at no additional cost from the dealer.

I am fully aware of the transmission glitches that affect these vehicles and before I fully ditch the van ,I would like to attempt to investigate the source of the problem.

Here are the symptoms:

I was driving under normal conditions and suddenly headr a clunk from the engine, the vehicle hesitated and then remained stuck in first gear since. (no shifting under N selection, reverse works ok, I have not tried the other ones).

I have noticed aftewards that the tachometer is dead and there is a visible leak of fluid (I suppose transmission fluid) from underside.

I did a routine instrument check and everithing works, could not get a trouble code from the digital panel.

I am suspecting that the speed sensors are gone, my question is where could I find them and if I replace them what are the chances of solving my problem.

Or is the transmission really gone for good?

Please email if you have a diagram or anything that could help ([email protected])

Appreciate your help!

Re: Dodge Grand Caravan 96 (Transmission)

If you see fluid, it is not/not only a sensor issue.
