Cruise control

Hi all, I have just bought a used alero and by the sounds of things this may have been a bad purchase.

I too am having problems already. My cruise control will not engage. The light on the steering wheel lights up but the light on the dash does not. All the fuses that I have checked that are related to cruise are working. Can anyone give me suggestions on where to look for problems or what may need to be replaced? This is rather frustrating because when I did the test drive it worked perfectly. I tried the holding the button down method but that doesn't work.

Thanks

Dallis

Unhappy My Cruise Control has never worked..

I've checked all the relevant fuses for the cruise control and they're all fine.

I get a similar problem with just the light coming on when I hit cruise, but if I try to set it, I get a whOLe lotta nothin'. I don't care too much because I rarely like to use it (kind of a control thing), but for longer trips with minimal traffic, it'd be nice to have.

Anyone figured out what might be the cause or how to fix it?

Btw, mine is a 2000 Alero, and the steering wheel with controls is original (at least to my knowledge).

I have a '01 alero & my cruise messed up similar to yours but it was still under warranty & they said it was the cruise control module under the hood. I got a receipt & it showed to be $250 for the module, but that was about 2-3yrs ago. Don't know if this will help but thought I would let you know.
