My vw wont start number 5000 ha

hey whats up guys im very new boshman seems to be the man so if u get this buddy please help out its getting cold anyways

my 97 vw golf wont start i dont hear the fuel pump when key is in on postion the fuel pump fuse is getting no power im getting no spark from the coil but im getting power to the control module of the coil its stick
i went to check and see if its the ECM relay but there is no relay ini pos #3 does anyone now whats wrong and if its the ECM relay do u know the relay number not part number the number on top if the relay thanks for any help i can get

try replacing the fuel pump relay

You might have activated the anti-theft, turn the key in the driver's door to unlock position to deactivate. With the key in the on position pull the electrical harness from the distributor & see if you have 12 Volts between the outer two pins.

tryed that to im getting 12v to the dis
and 12v to the coil im getting now power to the fuel pump fuse and the fuel pump relay works is there a ecm relay somewhere in this car under the hood somewhere because this didnt start untill i put in the radio now i thinking i nocked some wires lose i have no idea what to do

oh and my alarm had a problem and i jumped the pins on the alarm but i check that and it was still in take

Are we talking about a no cranking problem now or no start when cranking? Fuel pump fuse will only have power for a couple of seconds when the key is first turned to on position, then will have power again when cranking & running. You can remove the relay and jumper a wire between the two larger terminals perpendicular to each other to run power to the pump all the time the key is on. If there is no power to the relay with the key on then you either have an ignition switch or fuse panel problem.

ok thanks finaly a diffrent solution at first the engine was cranking and didnt fire but now no cranking and no fire so your saying it could be my fuse box

aaaaaaaaaand would messing with my radio wires have anything at all to do with this because everything was fine untill i put in a new radio it started and then i pushed the radio all the way in and it cranked and never started again and now its not craking when i took the radio back out

ok boshman im starting to think its the fuse box because i took of the wires from the ignition switch and jumped the all red wire with the red a black on which is running to the started and nothing happen what do u think before doing that i jumped the red wire going to the starter with the red and black and the engine cranked again

ok im lost again i jumped the fuel pump relay and i heard it this time and then i jumped the starter and it started and it runs but it doesnet work when i turn it from the key and one if the relay is clicking the same speed as the engine is running

well thanks for no response for those who wanted to know what i did i replace the igintion switch then i got fuel and spark again the car still didnt crank so i made me a custom starter switch that i use and the car runs great thanks for the help boshman and veedub
