leaking transmission

I have a 99 mercury cougar that is leaking transmission fluid. First it leaked only a little now it has gotten worse. It seemed to have started after my son drove it over something and puntctured a hole in the A/C unit under the car.( A/C doesn't work now) Could that be part of the problem or could there be something else going wrong? It drives fine and doesn not slip gears.

whatever he hit could have bent the transmission pan causing it to leak out of the pan gasket at a deformed area caused by the foriegn object
