Okay, So I was driving yesterday coming home and my gas light was on. So i exit the freeway to fill up gas. So when I exit I get to the light and stop, then my car turned off. I put it in Park and tried to start it but got nothing. The funny part is that my Shift indicator, the little line under PRND123 didn't show. The guy at the gas station helped me push the car and I filled it up. Tried to start it but got nothing.
I can hear a click sound under the hood but nothing. I tapped the starter and still nothing. I have ample power and my battery is strong. When I try to turn the car on my fuel gage show empty, but infact the car has plenty of gas, since I filled it up at the station. Does anyone know what is going on. Or how can I start my car to get it home. HELP! Thanks in advance. |

Re: Very Strange Starting Problem. HELP!
Is it a "Zzzoooo" sound or a "clicker, clicker" sound? If it is the Z sound it is your starter motor is OK but your starter solenoid is bad. If it is the click sound it is the reversal. Anyways, it sounds like the starter. Not sure why it still reads low except you might need a fuel sending unit.

Re: Very Strange Starting Problem. HELP!
I used to work for nissan and it sounds like you have the same problem as the Xtera. Your fuel sending unit is bad. I also had the same problem happen on my 1999 Denali.
Dealer cost is about $300-350. It is inside the gas tank so not a do it your selfer. |
