2001 Camry Won't Start
My normally reliable 4-cyl Camry turns over and starts, but immediately stalls and dies. If I restart it and immediately give it some gas, it runs fine, but as soon as I take my foot off the gas, it immediately dies again. Almost like the idle is set way too low. Could this be a clogged fuel filter? This came on with no warning.

The fuel filter ia an unlikely culprit in this case. Has the check engine light come on? When was the last tune-up?

Re: 2001 Camry Won't Start
I am having the same problem with a 97 camry 3.0L. I can not make mine do this all the time. It seems like it only does it when it is warm. Everything seems to be pointing toward the IAC but I tested by jumping the e1 to te1 terminal as stated in the repair manual. The rpm did not go toward 1000rpm in 5 seconds but went down. Then I check the resistance across the ICA but it was in specs. I hate to part swap and this time a new IAC cost $175 smackroos.

Well it seems that the IAC was the problem. I took it off, cleaned it up good using a stiff brush with carb cleaner, and put it back on. The wife is happy now.

Re: 2001 Camry Won't Start
Thanks for the posted solution - very few people bother to do that. Cheers!
