174/175 indicate lean conditions. This certainly COULD be caused by a faulty or even dirty MAF. It could be caused by vacuum leaks too or even a fuel flow problem.

I have some pics on cleaning that on my '96 at
http://community.webshots.com/album/201931518cScpNK

Also, there is a TSB for vaccum leaks for your '99 and newer years windstar A member posted some great information and pictures at

http://leckemby.net/windstar/windstar01.html

You could be seeing early signs of needing the TSB...if it has not already been done.

I got the MAF sensor apart Sat,,, and its not the same as the
99 models,,, it is lodged in a megphone housing bought as a
assy $143 new,,,$ 70 re-man w/core
You can't get to it to clean unless its a spray can with
the red stem installed in the can,, will this do?

Re: 2001;chk eng lght; code 174=175 MAF ?

I do not know what your MAF looks like..... The one in my pictures is from my '96. It should give you an idea of how to clean yours...as the principle of operation is the same.

You want to use a non-residue electronic cleaner. You should be able to get it at radio shack. You will use the red stem....and spray the cleaner so that it goes in 1 hole....and out the other....flushing any dirt out with it.

There are 2 thermistors inside there. Together, they give the computer an indication of the airflow, compensated for the temperature of the air. You are cleaning away any oil / dust that may have settled onto the thermistors, or is blocking the passage.
