87 s-10 2.8l engine problems NEED SERIOUS HELP!!!

I bought my 87 s10 4x4 2.8lback about 6months ago & this past month it has been driven the most all new shocks & all new brakes suspension, axles the whole nine & a fresh rebuilt 700r4 tranny. it broke down & turned out a 15amp fuse blew that was for the ecm & after replacing this fuse it started up it now has a real rough idle when 1st started in morning then after 10-15sec it levels out great & drives fine new tranny works great but it doesnt have power for nothing i cant go up like hills & whatnot over30 there is no power in the engine i changed filter, oil&oil filter cap&rotor, plugs&wires replaced some vacline that were old - the fuel filter/pump in tank i tested & is pumping normal not sure if its the engine which i was told doesnt have but like 60,000miles on it & dunno if it could be a bad computer in it or something with wiring that it'd blow fuse

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

i had a similar problem and it turned out to be a bunch of wires running down the back of the motor and they were grounding out on the cab

Re: 87 s-10 2.8l engine problems NEED SERIOUS HELP!!!

Just a guess here.... but the fact the truck was running fine before the power to the ECM was inturrupted (blown fuse) would lead me to check for any trouble codes. You may have some codes locked in the ECM that require resettting whenever power is lost to the ECM (like when you swap out the battery). Another straw to grab would be to unpower the ECM by disconnecting the battery, then try and start the truck or touch both battery cables together (you want to fully discahrge any ECM holding capacitors that may provide enough current to keep trouble codes locked in). Reconnect the battery and see what happens.... there may be a period of time when the truck runs a bit ragged until the computer "relearns".

Hope this helps....
