I was wondering if there were any turbo kits i could get for my 3000gt non-turbo. And if there are any good motor mod kits out there also. Thanks

Re: non-turbo 3000gt

read the FAQ sticky thread for information enlightenment.

there are no turbo kits, however, the stock turbos off the VR4/TT model will bolt right up to the non-turbos. also, there was a supercharger for the non-turbo made by Rippmods.com, not sure if they're still making one for the DOHC non-turbo, though they still make one for the SOHC non-turbo.

Would i have to take the whole turbo system off a VR4 to bolt it right onto a non-turbo. I mean like how hard would that be.

Re: non-turbo 3000gt

yes, you need the entire turbo system. turbos, turbo piping, etc, etc. you can get away with no intercoolers, but you'll have to run an alcohol/methanol spray to combat pre-detonation. so intercooler is a good safe bet.

here are a few sites that tell you all the parts you need. some people just get a vr4/tt parts car for cheap and remove and reinstall, instead of shopping for parts and paying for shipping.

Re: non-turbo 3000gt

linebckr, one question... I have the SOHC... I want to know will I have to put the turbo manifolds on the car, or will the turbos bolt-on the non-turbo manifolds?

Re: non-turbo 3000gt

by manifolds i assume you mean exhaust! not to be confused with the intake manifold. you can use your stock intake manifold OR you can swap to a TT manifold, which will only benefit you with the longer runners for increased torque.

assuming you're talking about exhaust manifolds for the turbos bolting up, you WILL need the Turbo exhaust manifolds from a TT. the stock N/A exhaust manifolds aren't designed to receive a turbo.

You cannot bolt the DOHC or TT exhaust manis or even intake mani up to a SOHC.

Re: non-turbo 3000gt

Yes, I was talking about the Exhaust manifolds... but as Stealthee pointed out... I didn't think that the manifolds would bolt onto the SOHC... but I wasn't for certain...

Re: non-turbo 3000gt

interesting. i didn't know that Stealthee.

so mike, if you wanna go FI, then you're only options are to fabricate your own turbo setup (pain in the butt) or go with the RippMods SDS.

Re: non-turbo 3000gt

yes, I have looked at the Rippmods deal... too bad they don't finance... lol

I b/l the one of the reasons that they won't bolt up is the fact the way the engine sits b/c of the extra cam-shafts... as that is the reason I concluded that the 3sx headers won't fit the SOHC...

One question, on Ripp's site... they say that SDS won't work with factory manifolds, so would I have to buy there headers as well?

Re: Re: non-turbo 3000gt

The reason the DOHC mani's wont work with the SOHC is because of the exhaust ports on the heads.
