1991 Protege 4 cyl SOHC Radiator fan
I just replace the thermostat in my protege and broke the sensor that
plugs into it. I bought a new sensor and installed it. Ran the car for over 20min in my driveway and another 1/2 hr round town and she did not overheat. Temp guage was normal Did not see the radiator cooling fan turn on. Should'nt it come on from time to time? I'm wondering if the sensor I broke controls the fan and maybe I installed the wrong one.

Re: 1991 Protege 4 cyl SOHC Radiator fan
The system is controlled by temperature, not time.
If you want to check it cover the radiator with some cardboard, that should cause it to get warm enough to cycle the fan on. Just watch it so you don't overheat in event the new parts don't work. Clifton |

Thanks thats what I thought, I seem to remember the fan turning on and off last few times I ran her with the hood open. Maybe it was warmer then. |
