To Miami via the Daytona Spyder

and stop at the Vice offices:
This is the re-issue of the Revell Miami Vice Daytona Spyder. If anyone built the original then you know how this fits. Same as last time.
Their was hardly any flashing or sink marks to fill, but as has been noticed this kit too, uses the same new plastic.
I painted mine with Tamiya Black straight on to the plastic, lite coats with no problems, I thought....
Looking at it the next day their was a blemish on the hood, as if the paint wouldn't adhere, Dunno what could have happened. I lightly sanded and scrubbed before painting. So, I wet sanded with a 4000 and reshot. Hm... same thing only it was smaller now. So I let it be since I am only building this for shelf display. I'll be doing the Testarossa Miami Vice as well.
Left off the mirrors as I like the look this way, again for the shelf.
The only time I saw this exact car used in Miami Vice was for the 2 hr. pilot show. After that it had the exposed headlights.

More at my link. Lastly, the body does not fit well at all. She's wobbly all around.
Looks good for the shelf.
Did I mention it's for the shelf?
Chris

Nice 'Vette

Bet a lot of the younger builders here don't know the story behind the car.

Ok, It should read:
To Miami via the kit car based off the corvette!
LOL
Thanks Bob.
You are probably right. I noticed when I was a teenager. They would miss the Ferrari cue and you would hear the rumbling V-8.

Re: To Miami via the Daytona Spyder

does the model have the accurate corvette chassis/engine or did they skip some research n make it an actual ferrari?

Re: To Miami via the Daytona Spyder

Well, it is a kit car and does have the Chevrolet V-8, although generic looking. The chassis isn't quite corvette like, but this is based off of a kit car.
If you click my link in the initial post I have pictures of just the chassis and engine.

Re: To Miami via the Daytona Spyder

Thanks Frank for answering.
I'm going to start on the Testarossa kit soon, but I have a Mercedes beggin me to get going on it.
The Revell Daytona kit, to me, is only worth a shelf model. I mean it is a good representation of the car, but fit of the parts, especially the body to chassis, is very dissapoinitng.

Re: To Miami via the Daytona Spyder

Nice build of the Miami Vice Daytona.

I saw the real car in a TV Car museum in Gatlinburg, TN this year. I thought that was odd, as they blew the car up on the TV show. Maybe they had 2, or didn't really blow up a real car but a model of it.

It was a well done kit car, I thought. Very convincing and well built.
