overheating
Hey
I've seen a few posts about Durango overheating, and was wondering if anyone came up with a real fix. My 99 has 60'000 miles and just recently started having a problem when the air was on. The dealer replaced the water pump and thermostat, made no difference. The only thing left that I can think of is the fan clutch. It's going back to the dealer next week if they come up with anything positive I'll pass it on. On the bright side they replaced all 4 ball joints under an extended warranty deal. Anyone with front end noise might want to check with their dealer. A car in Florida that overheats when the air is on is no joke, what a shame otherwise I've been very pleased with this ride nailheadstude |

I too had the same problem. The dealer replace the thermostat, fan clutch, and water pump. That did not help at all. So, the dealer did some checking and found out that the problem was the fan size and the fan shroud. The orginal fan and fan shroud were too small for that size engine.
Good Luck, Steven |

I had same problem. Replaced fan clutch, did not work, had replaced water pump six months prior due to a shaft leak. Had air locked in the engine block. You must "burp" the cooling system, open the refill cap, and a burp will sound. Might have to raise the front end of suv to acomplish. Do not forget to refill it.
Hope this help. |

Re: overheating
Make sure your Tech checked the radiator for external blockage as well, sometimes the fins fill
up with mud, grass, roadgrime, "fluff" and other debris. It can be difficult to see, best to use a pressure washer from the backside to clean the rad. |
