98 Cherokee, U-Joints???

When you first accelerate it is making a clunking noise and sometimes does this when you stop. Do you think it could be the U-Joints?

Likely, yes. It might also be the slip yoke in the driveshaft or worn/broken engine or transmission mounts.

Try posting this question in the Jeep / Cherokee sub forum on this site. Also a search should reveal several other threads asking exactly the same question.
