94 Golf Daytime running lights stopped working.

Hi, I am trying to troubleshoot the following symptoms and was hoping someone had some insights.

-daytime headlights stopped working
-when turn headlights on manually they work
-display lights don't work (so the dimmer [i.e., roller switch] for the display lights doesn't work either)
-high beams work
-rear running lights don't work (so I can't drive at night!)
-brake lights work
-signal / hazard lights work

I tested out two different light switch boxes (i.e., the small square box that has the two-setting light switch and display dimmer switch left of the steering wheel ) but this did not fix the problem.

The problem is your headlight switch.
