Max needs a drop...
Hey guys,
I have a 00 5spd Maxima and I think that its about time to drop it. I've looked around and found Tein springs on Ebay for 120 that have a 1.6 drop in the back and 2.2 in the front. I would jump all over these, but my only concern is because I am not upgrading any of the other pieces of the suspension that my ride will become a lot more bumpy. Have any of you guys just popped in springs? If so how's the ride and would you suggest that I do something else too? Thanks, DF |

Re: Max needs a drop...
i went with just springs at first. it makes for the shittiest ride IMO. if you hit a road with some consecutive bumps the car launches up and down. i could only tolerate it for about a week before i ordered new struts to accomodate the drop. if you're gonna do it, do it right.

Well right now I don't have that much money. How much did you have to drop on the struts and what springs are you using with them?

Re: Max needs a drop...
they're H&R springs. my struts were like $500 for the illumina's. springs were $215.

I got a 97 maxima that is dropped with a Tokico Illumina (white) kit. It only drops about 1.5", but it handles great. If you want better handling, i would either recommend Eibach with Tokico or Koni shocks, or go for the Tokico kit.

The other thing you should upgrade are your suspension bushings and add a sway bar in the rear. All maximas 95-03 don't come with rear sway bars. I got a stillen sway bar ordered for my 97 maxima.

Re: Max needs a drop...
this guy's site has it all as far as maxima's and new suspension components: http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/sp..._decision.html
as far as springs, if you're going to drop the car for looks, then go with tein s.techs, is you want the best combo of ride quality and handlng go with H&R's. eibach's are good srpings but have a high spring rate making for a harsh ride compared to other springs. i recommend H&R's, my only minor gripe is that the front drop should be just a little bit lower. i'd recommend illumina struts too since they come with a lifetime warranty if you don't drop the car more than 1.5".

Aftermarket springs will dramatically shorten the life of your shocks as well, be ready for that.
