1995 Grand marquis reving up while in park

I have a 95 Grand Marquis. When it get's warmed up and put into gear with the brakes still applied it has a tendency to stall and I notice the battery gauge on the dash would have a sudden drop to it, also when the car is in park and still running I can hear a click then the engines rev's up and it does it over and over while in park. It's not that bad but I know its doing it.

Finally my temp gauge doesnt work either it hasnt worked since it had 19,000 miles and it's on 106000 now. What are some trouble shooting tips I can use to determine the problem?
