My Chop Shop (W.I.P)

Did a quick chop of my car.

Heres the original

An heres the chop

I messed up big time...teh carbon fiber hood isnt "completed", thers a small notch by the left headlight that wasn't selected. The grill is still in teh werks. Not gonna bother with the rims seeng as how you won't be able to see much. And no the car isn't lowered.

"thers a small notch by the left headlight that wasn't selected."

I suggest you spend some time learning to use curves and alpha channels. That hood would be an easy selection. Also, rotate the carbon pattern so the orientation matches the hood.

Don't give up!

UPDATE

I know the colours don't match at all but it's kind of hard to get that damn copper finish and shine.

Re: My Chop Shop (W.I.P)

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do now... If you want to match the hood to the original, why not just use the original?

Also, it looks like you just shaped out the hood, and added shading by hand. You did ok with the shading (the edges are kind of sharp, and one of the highlights is a little off), but try using layer options, and blending modes to carry shading through an added feature.

Re: My Chop Shop (W.I.P)

color matching isnt too good i think you should get bigger and more high res pics to chop at first not ones like this one i wouldnt of even bothered with this pic its too small.

Re: My Chop Shop (W.I.P)

I googled a pic of a mazdaspeed6 and found one that was at a fairly close angle. The color was white... I took the hood off of it, and distorted it to fit your car. Then I masked the edges of it to clean it up. With the new hood in place, I had the shadows and highlights needed. A color layer, and a few adjustment layers later it was done. If I was doing it as a project for myself I would've spent more time getting the color just right. It's still a bit off, but pretty close. Oh, I almost forgot, I did all of this over the original hood with a fair amount of transparency, so as to keep the reflections from the trees and whatnot.
