I want to lower my del sol

Hi everyone,

I bought a 93 Honda del sol last year and just had a set of 17" tires. I am anxious to get my car lowered but have no idea hot to do it and where have it done. I definetly don't know how to do it myself, So i was just wondering if you could help me out on what choices I have on different suspension kits. I've been doing some research and found out Eibach to be one of the most reliable ones. Is that true? I have also found they have different kinds like the sport spring set, the Pro kit spring set and the race spring set. What are the difference between them? I have also notice they sell the whole set of springs along with the shonks. I don't mind spending some extra money if I know in advance my car won't loss horse power or bounce when I drive. As you can see I don't know much about cars and I'm just getting in the habbit of reading a lot about them. One last question. What should I look for in a place I'd like them to be done and How much average would it cost, so they won't rip me off?

theres a lot of different set ups to go with, but usually if your going to buy the lowering springs you'll need to buy the shocks too. if money aint an factor i would either get tein or tanabi suspension kit they come with dampers so you can adjust how soft or stiff you want your suspension. i have tanabi and i dont feel any bumps and it doesnt bounce at all. i have a friend who got skunk2 and dont remember what kind of shocks and his cars bounces all over the place on bumps. what ever your choice try to get shocks that come with adjustible dampers.

Well you can either get a shock/spring combo or coilovers.

with the shock/spring you will save money and you will still retain a pretty good ride. this is what I have: KYB AGX adjustable gas shocks and H&R sport springs. the ride is pretty good and it handles very well. I highly advise against lowering more than 1.5-1.75 inches as you will run into camber/alignment problems. plus your tires may rub in the turns. Tire Rack has some good stuff, its where I bought my shocks and springs. cost was about $450 for the shocks and 200 for springs. I installed them myself. (pretty easy) but if you get it done somwhere labor could be $200 or more.

I recently threw some Tokico Blue's and a set of Tein dress-up masters on my sol... it rides pretty good and looks just a lil bit lower then stock ride height (i think? maybe not) even with stock wheels. With a pair of 17's on there it would probably fill out nice... kinda starting to fantasize about it a little bit on my sol lol.

Next time, try not to bring up old threads. But as for your wheel choice may a suggest something smaller. 17's are really too big for such a small car. You would be much better off with 15's. Cheaper tires, much better ride, (hopefully) they will be lighter, meaning better performance and better grip as they will be easier to keep on the road. Take a look at Rota Wheels.
