Re: 1/12 69 Camaro Pro Street

snap a couple of pics of the engine in the bay if you can, with and without the body, I'm sure that we can all come up with something. turbo's offer lots of detail. If you wanted something even more, go with a tunnel ram and a dual stage nitrous set up.

Re: 1/12 69 Camaro Pro Street

Very nice progress so far! there are only a handful of people that would dare to attempt a 1:12 camaro, especially with all the work you have goin with it. I have 2 suggestions for the turbo, and you might've already thought of and dismissed both but here they are: 1. cut out the inner front wheelwells and use the extra space to mount the turbos cuz the skinnies won't intrude on the setup...and 2. do a remote setup near the back of the car, i know its not as popular but some Corvette/Viper tuners are usin it, just put the turbos under the rear of the car and it'd definately be unique. Just suggestions however, i'm sure we're all confident you can make it look great and make everyone want a 69 camaro more than we already should... Keep up the good work and i'll be followin this!

When i first started this project i had no idea were i was going to go with the power plant choice. Then the twin turbo idea came up and thats what i wanted to do.I decided to go twin turbo big block chevy but along the way i hit many obsticles. the biggest being space. the big block took to much space. i decided to go small block but with another twist. After seeing Mike's 1/12 scratched built hot rod and saw that beautifull automatic i new i had to have one. I emailed Mike and asked if he was going to cast it in resin and he said he was and that he would send me one when it was complete. After a while i decided to give it a try and see if my skills were up to the task and build me one. Well i built a 350 Turbo Hydromatic for the Camaro. I used the kit supplied manual tranny and i modified it with sheet styren and brass and putty. The results are good to go. its still in a ruff condition but with time that will be taken care off. It still needs some minor things here and there. If it wasnt for Mike's build i dont think i would have done it. Heres to you Mike THANKS my Friend i hope All you dreams come true! Thanks for the insparation!!
I also had to make better Valve covers and a DEEP SUMP OIL PAN> Since i was in the mood for scratche building i just kept on going. I will post better pictures next time and i hope to have the Engine atleast 60% done. I have ordered Aluminum Wheels [weld super lites] from my friend Mark at Machine aliminum specialties and so the chassis will sit for the time being. I need the wheels and also the brake rotors he is making so i can continue with the suspension and adjust the track width. Not like my last car it was off by a bit. I will post more updates as the time comes....

Thank you Ralph for inspiring me to build a pro street 1/12! I am using your tips, and will hopefully have something ready next year some time. I have a question though, with your rear tires. How do you get the cut around the edges of the sidewall just right? It seems like it would be hard to get it so that you don`t notice the cut when placing the kit sidewalls inside the Muscle Machines tire tread.

On my Green 1/12 Camaro the process for opening up the doors was a straigth foward process.

If you look carefully at how i made the Hinges youll get an Idea of how i bent them. I used brass and a plastic tube so the door swivels on it.

As for the mounting of the hinges i used the ineer tub of the interior for the base. This way the door travels straigth and does not slump down.

Other people migth do it diffrently but i think this way is the easiest.I will be doing the same thing with my pro street but i will be making the door jams alot better. Some people migth say that "For a car this scale there should be no excuse of making them like the real Hinges". But for some of us that are not that experienced with measuring and working with brass i think this is the way to go.
