Is the 240sx a bad car to buy

I've been looking for a 240sx for a while now, i'm not shure why but i love thoes cars. I have a friend that tried to tell me that their engines are unreliable. I"m looking for a car that will last me through collage and some after, i'm a sr. in high school right now. I'm asking if these cars are reliable becasue recently i have found a 240 with about 150k miles for $2,500 its in good shape body wise ut i don't know much more about it. I just want to know if over all are these fairley reliable cars.

The 240sx is a much more reliable car than most everything out there, it's a Nissan which is a company with a reputation for reliable cars. The stock 24o packs the same motor as my former pickup, the KA24 and I put about 100k miles on it and all I had to replace during that time was a couple alternaters, batteries all normal things that you have to replace once in a while for any car. I drove that truck hard too. Consumer reports gives the 1st gen 240 a good reliability report, which is probly the gen. of the 240 your looking at considering it's 2,500. What year and body style is the 240 you found, that way I can give you an opinion on the price. You should also run a compression test and make sure everything is in working order.

yeah its the first gen body i forgot to mention that its a 93 se fastback. The guy says the body is in really good condition though i haven't seen it. Also its an automatic but he has a 5spd manual with the whole deal all a person has to do is swap. I'd really like to get this but the tranny swap i'm guessing isn't easy. I'm glad to know that these are good cars i'm looking for something to replace my mazda b-2300 its so brutally slow and its a pickup. For a pickup though it handels quite nimbally. The mechanical condition is said to be quite well so i'm guessing the engine is still running very well.

I think you'd be happy w/ a 240.....after driving my GSR, i don't know how you could go back to that slow pickup! Granted your truck is pimp and the sound system rivals a movie theater..., but i think you NEED something faster. Plus, we keep trying to do shit to your truck and it doesn't make it any faster, but if you got a 240, we could have all kinds of fun!!

I think you should get it because then we'd have a project through college! How are we going to pull the 4 wheelers?? i think we can borrow my Skylark and just hitch them up to that if need be....or my GSR can tow them.......

Anyway, i hope you get the 240.....it'd be fun!!
