Used WRX's

Im going to be attempting to buy a WRX sometime in the near future. used, for anywhere around 15-17,000. is there anything i should know before going into such a purchase? the car would have anywhere from 30-40 thousand miles. ive heard people say the transmissions are bad, and a few other horror stories but im not sure i believe them. if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated

Re: Used WRX's

well if someone beats up on a tranny by launching all the time and shit, what are some warning signs or things i could look for when test driving my potential buys.

Slipping clutch.

Subaru's trannies are pretty robust, if it's been driven hard though and it's a manual, there will be clutch wear.

Re: Used WRX's

if the person was launcing a lot just hope they were easy on the tranny, which means the clutch will wear out (this is better than killing the tranny by just dropping it)
see how it shifts, feel if the synchros are out of place etc...
