climate fan sporadic, ac/heat work

Anyone know how to solve this one

So I drove to Colorado from Illinois during the hot summer. On my 2001 malibu I had a bike rack and a car topper. Somewhere in Nebraska after blasting the ac for many miles the blower fan stoped working. If I messed with the dial enough sometimes the fan will kick back on. Cold/hot air will come out. The fan will start for maybe 3 seconds b4 stoping. There is also a weird noise coming from the fan when it is not blowing but on.

please help

A colleague of mine had the blower die on his 2001. He was having noises and it would kick on and off intermittently. The dealer always goes after the blower resistor first though, so he ended up having to take it back a second time to get the blower replaced. It's not too hard to do the blower yourself though.
Good luck.
Kev.

Re: climate fan sporadic, ac/heat work

You need a new a/c heater controller switch. My friend had the same problem. You will have to go to the dealer for the part. You can do it your self just pop out the panel cover first. Then you will see the switch assy. unscew and disconnect the old switch. Ten minute job.
