2003 Accord Clunk/Scrape on acceleration
I have a 2003 Accord with a V6 automatic. When I pull away in drive the first time after the car has been sitting, I get a scraping/clunking sound that I can literally feel through the gas pedal. Almost like the A/C compressor is kicking in but this occurs even if the compressor is already on. I have had it checked under the 3 year basic warranty twice with "no sound heard" reported both times by the mechanic. At times, it feels like the gas pedal is affected but with a throttle by wire pedal this shouldn't be the case (I believe). Any ideas ? I don't want this to turn into something major after the warranty expires next month.
Thanx |

Re: 2003 Accord Clunk/Scrape on acceleration
Did you get down and look close at the pedal and pivot, see if it's causing it?
Start with where you suspect, and work outward. I've seen pedal pivots develop weird pops and creaks that come and go. Hell, I've had people come in and tell me their clutch was shot, and come to find out they were pushing the floormat up under the pedal when they drive, and the only way I figured it out was letting them drive while I rode, and watched how they drive. There is usually a reason why the mechanic can't duplicate the problem, and sometimes it's YOU. Good luck. If you think of anything else that might pinpoint it, give a holler.
